GLOSSARY TERM

GSM

Stands for: Grams per Square Metre

A measure of fabric weight: the mass in grams of one square metre of fabric.

A standard cotton T-shirt is 160–200 GSM and heavyweight is 220 or more. Divide by 33.906 to get ounces per square yard. GSM alone does not describe quality; yarn type and construction matter too.
