GLOSSARY TERM

FCA

Stands for: Free Carrier

An Incoterms rule under which the seller delivers goods, cleared for export, to the carrier or other party nominated by the buyer at a named place.

Risk passes when the goods are handed to the carrier. Because containers are normally handed to a terminal before loading, FCA is technically the better fit than FOB for container shipments.
