Back-to-back LC

A second letter of credit opened by an exporter’s bank in favour of its own suppliers, on the strength of the master LC it received from the buyer.

Bangladeshi garment exporters commonly use back-to-back LCs to import fabric and trims, often under a bonded-warehouse facility. It lets them buy materials without tying up cash, and ties them to the master LC’s terms and shipment dates.
