FCL / LCL

Stands for: Full Container Load / Less than Container Load

FCL means a shipment fills a whole container for one buyer; LCL means the shipment shares a container with other buyers’ cargo and is charged by volume or weight.

FCL is cheaper per piece once volumes are large enough. LCL suits small first orders but adds consolidation handling and time at both ends.
