GLOSSARY TERM

Ring-spun yarn

Yarn made on a ring-spinning frame, which twists the fibres into a finer, stronger and softer yarn than open-end spinning produces.

Ring-spun cotton is the usual choice for premium T-shirts. Open-end yarn is cheaper and coarser and is common in budget basics and fleece.
