GLOSSARY TERM

Fabric consumption

The amount of fabric needed to make one garment, including the allowance for cutting waste and end-of-roll loss.

Consumption is calculated from the marker, the layout of pattern pieces on the fabric. A more efficient marker means less waste and a lower price, so consumption is one of the figures to compare between quotes.
