GLOSSARY TERM

Third-party inspection

A quality inspection carried out by an independent company, not the factory or the buyer, who checks the goods against the specification and reports pass or fail.

For buyers who cannot visit, a pass from a third-party final random inspection is the usual condition for releasing the balance payment. The inspector works to a sampling plan such as AQL 2.5.
